Clich? So what? Bring Bling on Valentines Day!

By Art Barron

When it comes to romantic relationships, jewelry is a standard. Jewelry is ever-so-present, especially when the lover is proposing, giving appreciation, or even asking for an apology. This practice just never goes out of style! The reason isn't even surprising. This is one area where going with tradition doesn't equal as second rate.

So if you're worried about becoming "one of the crowd" this Valentines Day should you give jewelry, here are some reasons why you should consider walking down to your nearest jewelry store:

Reason # 1: They last forever. Yes, your five dozen roses can sweeten up the bedroom---but only for a few days! If you want something that will exclaim that your love is eternal, try a diamond or sterling silver. One of the sweetest things about being a couple is being able to say ten years from now "hey, this is the ring he gave me Valentines Day a decade ago!" Now can you say the same about chocolate?

Reason 2: Make them custom-made and say what you want to say. Contrary to rumors, buying jewelry doesn't instantly mean last-minute. Go personalized and let your beloved know how much thought you gave when choosing your gift. You can have the pendant engraved with his name or pick out charms of her favorite pastimes for a bracelet. If met in a ball game, why not pick out earrings shaped into a baseball? Let your gifts speak for you!

Reason 3: Jewelry doesn't lose value. The world's currency is balanced with gold reserves and that's for a good reason. It doesn't matter what the season is or if the entire country is in bankruptcy, gold is a rare metal and will always remain priceless. You can surely depend on gold (or other precious jewels) to never lose value. It's like your special someone - he never depreciates in value!

Reason 4: Jewels are symbols of the special relationship you have with your significant other. Assurance. Affection. Love. Passion. Strength. Beauty. Are there any more words to say?

Reason # 5: Accessories ARE important, after all! The great thing about jewelry for girls is that they pretty much go with anything and everything. Color, style, shape - beauty can be achieved more easily once they have jewelry on. For guys, you won't have to wait as long for them to get ready. Too much jewelry is another problem altogether.

Reason 6: It tells the world that you belong together! There are couples who tattoo their lover's name on their bodies, the arm or the ankle, while there are also others who simply wear shirts that match. But for something classier than a shirt that states "I belong to him", why not have matching rings or pendants? It's one way to say that you belong with each other - without being cheesy.

Reason # 7: You will always have a piece of him/ her close to you. A pendant rests over one's heart; come on folks, what's more romantic than that? Even if the two of you are geographically separated, you know that a part of your is always bodily near. The jewelry will keep you in your loved one's constant awareness. Out of sight need not mean out of mind.

Reason # 8: You have options. For some people, jewelry is a scary option to consider because they have always been thought to cost you an arm and leg. But while this used to be true once, it no longer is true now. If you are on a budget, plenty of stores offer cuts and settings that can fit your resources. You don't always have to go for the diamonds immediately. Birthstones are as beautiful for the fraction of the cost.

Reason # 9: And best friends don't leave each other folks! Lastly: if there is a strong argument in favor of jewelry for Valentines Day, it is nothing else but this: diamonds are still a girl's best friend. Surveys indicate that compared to flowers, chocolates and lingerie, women still prefer to receive jewelry! And men are catching up on the trend. As they say, if you're a betting person, put your money on sure wins! - 15634
