Xerox Phaser 6110 - Maintain Space In Your Office

By Ben Pate

When you are thinking about copying, Xerox has to be one of the first names that comes to mind. Year in and year out they put out products that are very competitive and often do it for far less than the competition. The Xerox Phaser 6110 Printer falls right into that category and once again, you have to be amazed that Xerox for some reason is able to do this when the competition has just not figured it out yet.

Every printer has its pros and cons, but one of the best features that stands out on the Xerox Phaser 6110 is the fact that it is so tiny. While it is not a shoebox printer, it is pretty close. It measures only 15"x14"x10" and will allow you to make the most of the small space that you probably have for peripherals in your home office.

Another amazing feature on a printer that is so inexpensive is the speed of the processor. At 300 MHz, it stands up to printers 2 and 3 times its cost and when you add in the 600 dpi x 2400 dpi that is featured on top end models, you start to wonder how they manage to put out such a great product for such a cheap price.

As we said, with every printer there are pros and cons and the cons of this printer seem to the ppm speed could use a little boost. Pumping out 17ppm is not bad for the price point, but you would think a laser printer could do a better job. There is also no double sided printing option that hurts this model as with today's economy, everyone is looking to save every penny and second they can. If you want to double print, you are going to have to print it out page by page and flip the paper manually. This can be quite time consuming and hurts the value of this printer.

When you are looking to compare this printer to other that it is supposed to stack up against, you can put it up against the features of the Samsung CLP-315 and the HP Color LaserJet CP1215. As you will see, it is significantly cheaper than both of them while having very similar features as both of these units. The reviews of the products on many sites are very similar in nature so again, you have to wonder how Xerox can put out the same product as these two other companies at almost half the price!

For basic image printing, color documents and presentation, this printer will do more than an adequate job. It handles paper up to legal sized documents so it again falls in line with the other competition. It has a capacity of 150 sheets and an output capacity of 100 papers. The Xerox Phaser 6110 uses the 6100 toner cartridge and has a monthly duty cycle of just over 24,000 pages.

As long as you know the limitations of this printer, it is the right choice at this price. This is not a printer that you can throw into a heavy corporate office setting and expect it to hold up. This is a printer that is meant for a small office or home use and will more than do the job in that setting. - 15634
