Zuma is an incredibly poupular game. It is one of the games that put PopCap on the map. Without Zuma, we wouldn't have Peggle. Zuma has fun quality that is extremely hard to match. Even among puzzle games. Oftentimes those who started just can't ever manage to quit.
The game works by combining balls of the same color together and blow them up until no more balls come out for you to get rid of. The balls snake around the stage. weirdly you are a stone frog shooting the balls. It is strange.
As you play the game various elements are introduced to make things more interesting. If the snake balls reach the hole, you lose the game. Too bad, so sad right? Do not worry, if you have blown up enough balls and you win!
The goal is to move all colored balls before they reached the hole. Luckily, once you fill up the green bar at the top right of the screen, no more balls will come out into the maze, but you still have to clear what is left.
The balls come out faster, the maze fills up faster. That's when you feel your hand cramping. To ease things up a bit, you can gain bonuses by blowing up more balls, blowing up special balls, and hitting a coin that pops out in the most unlikely places.
There are two modes of play ? Adventure and Gauntlet modes. The Adventure mode is the default mode and is essentially described above. The Gauntlet mode might drive you crazy as the balls just keep coming and coming and coming. To make it even more difficult, they come faster and faster and new ball colors are added as you go along.
The graphics are good. Not too complicated. The game plays well on older machines which is excellent. Also, you can play the game via the web, which is excellent if you are looking to take a break.
